Welcome to the MAD ERADICATOR.

BUCKTHORN
My first encounter with buckthorn was 8 years ago when we were building a new house. There were lovely woods in the backyard and I thought, at the time, how great it was that it was so dense and would provide a lot of privacy. One day, a tree guy mentioned to me that “You have a lot of buckthorn.” My interest was piqued and I started to research it. I want to share what I learned here and I hope others will do the same.

Buckthorn is an invasive species that is quickly taking over our woodlands and changing the earth’s landscape forever. Everyone can take small steps to help thwart this insidious plant that like a cancer, will take over every ounce of soil where it lives, until nothing else can grow. Check with your state Department of Natural Resources. If buckthorn lives in your neighborhood, it is in the process of quickly taking over all native species.

This is one story of how we eradicated buckthorn in our own backyard and how my husband became the Mad Eradictor. The results were surprising.
